Since my granddaughters text a lot it seems their cells go dead in the car so I got this and it charges fast and is priced better than I have seen any where. I don't know how this dealer does it but I say get one as they are great quality and priced.

I was fooled by the listing of the 11-digit LG part number. The charger I received protects from these spikes by the attachment of a warning sticker telling you you must disconnect it whenever you are starting your vehicle. In all fairness, the charger may work perfectly fine. The warning sticker also tells you to disconnect it when leaving the vehicle. In this case, the charging adapter contains an intelligent IC chip. If you use the wrong charging algorithm, the battery can overheat or explode.
At the very least, you could shorten the life of the battery. In deciding whether to buy a genuine or aftermarket charger, one thing to consider is how much of the charging circuitry is in the charging adapter and how much is in the phone. I thought I was ordering a genuine LG product, but I received a generic non-LG car charger. For me, the confidence in not voiding my phone warranty is worth an extra 17 cents. In some cases, brief spikes up to 60 volts can appear on your 12 volt outlet. That doesn't sound very convenient. Another thought: I ordered a 120 VAC travel charger form BargainCell at the same time and received a genuine LG product.
So, maybe it's not optimized for my batery. Charging Lithium-Ion batteries can be tricky. I gave it 2 stars because I didn't receive the item I was expecting. The charger I received claims to work with all NiCd, NiMH and Li-ion batteries. Another function of the charger is to protect your phone from voltage transients generated when starting your vehicle. There are other listings on Amazon for genuine LG product for only 17 cents more. Maybe they just made a mistake.
